World Series: 2008

Since 1903, the modern World Series has been at the forefront of sports culture. With game one of the 2008 series right around the corner, the Philadelphia Phillies and the Tampa Bay Rays are ready to meet for the first time since 2006. This battle will include the power house offense of the Phillies matching up with the impeccable starting pitching of the Rays. This outcome would have been thought close to impossible at the start of the season for the Rays half. The Rays had the worst record in Major league baseball last year, and have fell under par in their 10 year history and for the Phillies… they have had ultimate septembers the past two years powering them selves by the NL East-New York Mets to make the playoffs. Though, one cannot ignore the history of the Phillies being the most loosing franchise in baseball history.

These two teams are proving that in baseball, history doesn’t always repeat itself, but rather gives teams more of a push in the later months of the season.
