Live Nation Cuts The Cord With Ticketmaster

The entertainment authority Live Nation is lending a hand to the ticketing industry by cutting the cord with Ticketmaster. These two companies have been working hand-in-hand with one another for some time now, but Live Nation feels the urge to take a step up, and thus has created their own in-house ticketing service. This will enable them to host and sell tickets on their own website, and end all ties with Ticketmaster and their endless fee’s.

Once upon a time, Live Nation was a small concert promoter, and has mutated into a full force entertainment enterprise. Despite CEO Nathan Hubbard’s comment on neglecting to lower ticket prices, he does promise that Live Nation will act as a more transparent and convenient company than their now rival Ticketmaster.

Another aspect of the new Live Nation that will aid them in their quest for domination is their recent deal with Blockbuster that warrants them as a distributor across the nation. The first four hours that a show is available for purchase, certain “special” seating opportunities are going to also be solely offered at Blockbuster. Furthermore, regardless of all these great deals and claims that Live Nation is stating; they are going up against that most powerful and common name in ticketing and entertainment. Ticketmaster wont take to this lightly, and I’m sure that they’re rebuttal will be quite effective in neutralizing this battle. But only time will tell, for now, fans need to either learn a new number and website with one lump charge via Live Nation, or stick to the familiar fee-driven Ticketmaster monopoly.

wow that is the most insightful blog post ever. Im glad I have something new to learn everytime I log onto neco.com. Ticketmaster does not care about the fan. Everyone should boycott their services because they hurt the customer. Take it from Pearl Jam

LN was never a small concert producer when formed after the spin-off from clear channel, it was and still is the biggest by far globally

the blockbuster deal is only in certain select markets and stores about one fifth oif the stores
also blockbuster has been vlosed to banckrupcy and has closed a lot of stores at least four big ones in Manhattan–two each on the Upper West Side and Upper East Side
most tickets are sold on line and by phone anyway
LN is in a competive war with ticketmaster and sonn when YM contracts tun out at venues, LN will try to swoop them up

the consumer will not have a decision of where to get tickets; each venue will have its own distinct seler
