Brett Bashing

Despite the New York Jets abysmal close to this past season, the media and public didn’t bash the detrimental factors of the team all that much. Well… not until this past Tuesday when the Jets star running back Thomas Jones shared his piece on the matter.

With an 8-3 record going into the home stretch of the season, the Jets were looking like on of the best teams in the league. Lead by Brett Farve, Thomas Jones and a solid receiving core, the Jets were the team to beat at one point. But with nine interceptions in the last five games, leading to a 1-4 close to the season, the Jets missed the playoffs yet again. Now with this pathetic end to a season, one would think that the New York City media and fans would rip Brett, and the Jets organization to pieces, but nothing to extreme has been said.

Thomas Jones, who is by far one of the most respected players on the Jets roster, broke out of his shell and filled in for where the reporters had missed. “The other day, the three interceptions really hurt us. I mean, that’s just reality. If I were to sit here and say, ‘Oh, man, it’s okay,’ that’s not reality… The reality is, you throw interceptions, I’m (ticked) off, I don’t like it. You know what I’m saying? I don’t like it, I know everybody else on the team doesn’t like it.” (NY Daily News). Jones is not known to be in the headlines as he is one of the rare, quieter pro-bowl caliber players. The comments made by Jones acted as a catalyst as more and more articles are coming out speaking of the Jets woes. On the other hand, this stand along with Jones’ MVP award from the Jets team might thrust him into the spotlight and create some character for the Jets organization.
