Birds Continue to Soar

This past weekend in football brought about many upsets. Three of the four games played crowned the road team as the victor and thus, continuing the popular underdog path to the Super Bowl. The Ravens, Cardinals and Eagles each defeated 3 of the most dominant teams in the NFL. As for the Steelers, well, they were the only team that held up to their first round by standards.

Joe Flacco and Mr. Ray Lewis lead the Baltimore Ravens to scratch out a victory over the punishing Tennessee Titans 13-10. Kurt Warner and Larry Fitzgerald lead that Anquan Boldin-less Arizona Cardinals to sweep up the Carolina Panthers 33-13. We then move to Sunday’s games featuring the highly anticipated Eagles-Giants battle. These two teams had already played each other twice this season and splitting the regular season victories, this game was HUGE. A slow first half for both clubs lead to an explosive second half by Donovan McNabb and in turn, ending the Giants hopes for back-to-back super bowls with their 23-11 loss. The final game of the Divisional Playoff’s was a concussed Pittsburgh Steelers team fighting the San Diego Chargers without the presence of L.T. The Steelers using the first-round bye to their advantage took care of the Chargers wining 35-24.

With both number one-seeded teams out of the play-offs, anything can happen. The question then leads to whether or not the birds will continue to soar, or will the #2 ranked Steelers show that their ranking isn’t a joke and continue their success? We’ll find out soon enough…
