Can UFC History Be Written this Super Bowl Weekend?

With Super Bowl weekend towering in our minds, never has any other event stood chance against its shadow… until now. UFC 94 is promising to be a “MUST SEE” in the world of sports and with its date being the day before Super Bowl Sunday, UFC President Dana White seems to believe it will compliment the weekend nicely.

UFC 94 is set to take place on January 31 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. It’s main event? A monstrous fight between UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre (Montreal, Quebec) and UFC Lightweight Champion B.J. Penn (Hilo, Hawaii).

St. Pierre is defending his welterweight title against Penn who, with a victory, can become the very first fighter to hold two UFC title simultaneously.

UFC has announced today that the highly anticipated welterweight bout has been sold out with an estimated 14,000 attending this pay-per-view event. However, UFC Tickets are still available via the secondary ticket market.

To further promote the UFC 94 main event, UFC president Dana White will debut tonight (10 P.M. EST/PST on Spike TV) a three part preview series dubbed “UFC Primetime: St. Pierre vs. Penn,” continuing for the next 2 Wednesday nights prior to the event. The confident president spent nearly $2 million to produce the series to promote the fight he has called nothing less than “epic”.

In addition to the main event there will be nine other bouts with only four being televised.
