Live Nation and Ticketmaster Merger: A Step Closer…

So we’re a step closer to meeting the two-headed behemoth today. Ticketmaster’s board approved the merger late Sunday night and today we have news that Live Nation has also come to terms. If the U.S. Department of Justice approves this, the new Live Nation Entertainment (Previously thought to be called Live Nation Ticketmaster) will be valued at approximately $2.5 billion.

Evidently the savings passed along with this merger would enable fans to handpick their seats at concerts… I personally think that’s a load of BS, but that’s just me. Each Ticketmaster share would represent 1.384 shares of Live Nation’s stock and the board of this monster will consist of seven representatives for each company involved.

Thus, we are in a waiting game to see if concert and event tickets will continue to soar in price along with true fans getting shut out of their favorite shows. Lets see what the Department of Justice has to say and hope that they see this as seriously as the nations fans.
