When people mention the phrase Super Group to me, bands like Blind Faith, Cream, Bad Company and Emerson, Lake and Palmer come to mind. However there has been a new page turned in the super group era, as new bands are forming/combining such as Audioslave, Velvet Revolver and The Mars Volta. The newest of which is set to release their debut album this spring.
But who does this new super group consist of you ask? Well its a motley bunch ranging from classic pop/punk, to modern day pop to alternative rock. With the Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha, Cheap Trick drummer Bun E. Carlos, Hansons Taylor Hanson (the middle one) and Fountains Of Wayne bassist Adam Schlesinger, this new super group will fall under the name Tinted Windows.
According to Billboard, the band has already recorded their first album and is geared up to play their first show March 20th at the Billboard South By Southwest Showcase. Super Groups have had legendary success, so keep an eye out for Tinted Windows in the near future.
