Joaquin Phoenix: As Odd As They Come

Countless individuals witnessed the strange ways of Joaquin Phoenix on the Late Show with David Letterman last month and that Hip-Hop career shift that he was talking about came to fruition last night. Phoenix was set to play at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach Hotel last night as people piled the doors by the hundreds. However these fans didn’t know that the 10:30 opening, would be delayed to about, 2:00 AM. So Joaquin comes out in a beat up suit with sneakers and a cigarette lit and starts his new career.

The DJ put on a beat, and Phoenix started rapping – although rumor has it that he wasn’t very talented, or intellectual at all. So much so, that an audience member started heckling Joaquin to the point that he jumped right off the stage and started fighting the bewildered fan.

Now this is all somewhat to be expected after viewing the Letterman interview 3-5 times. But the interesting aspect of this night is that actor Casey Affleck was recording the entire night via his well-equipped camcorder. Evidently Affleck has been shooting a documentary on Joaquin’s career shift that draws many questions to the ulterior motives of his actions. People are now skeptical that this whole ‘new’ Joaquin Phoenix is an act, dating all the way back to the Letterman interview. Whatever it is, I’m not sure how well it is working as many people think he’s taken a dive off the deep end, as others are strumming up drug stories. Nevertheless, this press might be exactly what he is seeking if this is in fact an act. Lets see where his hip-hop career takes him along with keeping an eye out for his documentary, as all of these actions may very well add to the ploy he is crafting together.

Any news is good news in the Entertainment Industry. Wild stories and characters make the news. I think it’s great PR. Very entertaining and I do hope that it is an act. I believe that it is after watching the interview about 5 times myself. I thought it was great entertainment and he certainly got my attention!

    Kudos to Joaquin!

I watched Letterman, and Phoenix is either a genius or on thorazine.

It’s clearly not real, as the guy has no discernable musical talent, except for learning a few Cash songs a few years ago. It’s all a ruse for a mockumentary that Casey Affleck is filming for him. It’s fucking stupid and a waste of everyone’s time, especially on this website.

Maybe it is that I have worked in PR for a long time but I think I smell a rat here. It seems like a put on, a hoax, a stunt. Maybe I am wrong but all I have to say is…Ozzy never bit the head off anything and every "controversy" on every reality show on television was written in advance.

  6. Didn’t Andy Kaufman already do this? Didn’t they make a biopic of Kaufman already doing this? I always thought River was better looking, anyway. Why can’t celebrities offer intelligent entertainment?

Brilliant actor but his decision to go on this avenue of hip hop isn’t the best choice he has made.. even if the documentary is released who the f… is going to purchase it or pay to see it.

Joaquin Phoenix is too deep for anyone to understand what he is doing with his career right now
