Jose Canseco’s New Career… Or Not

Jose Canseco’s New Career… Or Not

As Jose Canseco’s career is as rock bottom as it gets, he really is looking for a new nitch and for some reason, I don’t think it’s in MMA.  Two nights ago Canseco’s MMA debut took place in Yokohama, Japan against super heavyweight Hong Man Choi.  When I first watched the video of this fight, it took me a while to realize what I was watching.  Canseco whose 6’4 jacked up body is familiar to most sports fans, appeared dwarfed to this giant.  Choi stands at 7’2 and 330 pounds and made the roid-child squirm throughout the fight.

However, it would be tough to call this a fight as it lasted a mere 1 minuet and 17 seconds.  Canseco attempted to fight at the bell but quickly realized he was overmatched in every way possible.  By the 45th second, he was running around the ring avoided the stalking presence of Choi who injured Canseco’s knee by simply taking a kick from the poorly trained Athletic.  After the knee went, the fight was done.  Choi was able to land a solid left jab that knocked Jose down and finished with a ground and pound fury of fists.

Canseco was quoted after the fight saying, “That’s a big man… I ran into one of his left jabs and that almost knocked me out.  You have no idea how scary it was facing a man that big” (TerezOwens.com).  Bottom line, Jose just isn’t cut out for MMA.  His chunky style leaves way too many holes open for any big time fighter and his defense is non-existent.  Check out the footage of the fight as Choi is making a big name for himself.  Maybe we’ll be able to see Choi come over sea and face off against some of the UFC’s giants (Brock Lesnar or Tim Silvia).

  1. They should have let Conseco use the bat he walked in with, although the China-Man probably would have just stole it from him and given him an even worse beat down. I love how Jose claimed that he hurt his knee and that is why he got his ass-whooped.
    Classic.

Canseco needs to go away. He is a has-been trying to stay in the spotlight past his time. Maybe next time he won’t be so lucky to come out in one piece. Guess he didn’t learn his lesson taking on a smaller guy in Vai Sikahema and getting beat down. All though Vai is a MAN who can throw down, I give all the props in the world to Sikahema. Canseco just isn’t ‘that’ guy who can make it in the fight game. Little Bonaduce gave him a run! Go away Jose!
