Now that we’re into June, many album releases are due to debut very soon. June 2 – 5th will bring about five big time release’s that are sure to make a dent in record sales. First up, the Dave Matthews Band is looking to continue their streak of reaching the number one slot on U.S. charts as they have done successfully on their last four albums. Their new release is entitled “Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King” and is the first release since the death of saxophonist LeRoi Moore. The “GrooGrux King” in the title is in reference to Moore. The first single on this record is “Funny the Way It Is” and look for more singles to come about after the release.
The next big summer album that is coming out has been in the making for almost twenty years and is the first set of Neal Young greatest hits titled “Neal Young Archives Vol. 1: 1963-1972”. The 10-disk collection will be available in many different formats and will cover nearly 10 years of his career. This release is to be followed by his latest studio album due in early April of next year.
Rancid is back with “Let the Dominoes Fall” and is looking to make a big comeback after their “Indestructible” release which topped off at number #15. This will be the bands seventh album and will be touring the debut with Rise Against in Canada.
The fourth release of tomorrow belongs to the Grammy-winner Elvis Costello and is titled “Secret, Profane and Sugarcane”. This will be his 25th studio album and will include special guests, Jim Lauderdale, Emmylou Harris and Loretta Lynn.
The last release that’s sure to make a big impact in the coming months is by the new super-group Chickenfoot. The self-titled release features legends, Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony, Joe Satriani and Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers). This extremely talented group has been all over the radio stations for the past month and is going to explode on June 5th when this album is released. Keep a keen eye on this band as Satriani might be the best guitarist alive and with his surrounding cast of pure talent, Chickenfoot might make their mark on the charts.
