“NFL Teams Do Want Vick”

While former NFL coach Tony Dungy was on ESPN’s “Mike and Mike In The Morning” today, he was questioned about Michael Vick’s prospective future in the 2009-2010 season.  Dungy’s response was one of certainty as he indicated that Vick would be picked up by a team sooner than later, “I think somethings going to happen this week.” (NBC Sports).  Dungy was also recorded saying that his prediction is based on the level of interest of approximately a dozen NFL coaches as they have contacted him for his input on Vick.

Given the amount of press that will follow Vick in this comeback year; there is no team with open arms waiting for him to walk through the door.  These coaches and teams are a week into their camps and want to really make sure that he is a secure fit with their offense as he is carrying a few big bags with him.  Yet, Dungy is confident that the sooner Vick is accepted and part of a “football family“, the better off Vick will be.  So, we’ll see if Tony’s prediction is correct - Im thinking he’ll most likely end up with a team like the 49ers or the sorryful Seahawks…

Bring him to Pittsburgh, he’s be a great back up to Ben and possesses Kordell Stewart athleticism. Could be used on special teams and options. Plus, the well established and disciplined Pittsburgh program would be a good building block for Vick to re-build his career, reputation, etc. There’s no thugs on Pittsburgh’s team, which would create a more positive environment for Mike.

  2. Unbelievable that we would cheer at a football game for someone who has demonstrated such cruelty.
