Porcello Is A Beast

Porcello Is A Beast

Last nights game between the Boston Red Sox and the Detroit Tigers got off to quite the start.  20 year old, Rick Porcello hit Kevin Youkilis with a pitch on the left arm.  Youk then went on to sprint to the mound while throwing his helmet at the petrified Porcello.  However, Porcello did manage to recover quite well, tossing Youk over and starting the brawl, the dug-outs and bullpens cleared and the fight was on.  This tension was premeditated as the night before a number of players on both teams were struck by pitches.  So, the umpire’s discussed and came to hte conclusion that Porcello was intentionally throwing at Youk and was consequently ejected from the game.

I think Porcello is the man for throwing at Youk - not only because he is on my fantasy squad but because he took down one of the more intimidating players in the game.  Take a look at the video for yourself and let me know what you think of the situation…

This was the best fight of the year to date. I always thought that Youkilis was pretty understanding about getting hit because of his relationship with Joba… but he really lost his cool and it was awesome.

p.s. the Yankees are the best team in baseball

Hold on. “This was the best fight of the year to date”……does this mean that you are hoping for more fights? Are you a hockey fan who watches for the fights, or a nascar fan who only watches to see the accidents?

This is a tough player (Youkilis) who gets hit A LOT, is in a pennant race and rightfully takes exception to the opposing teams pitcher (Porcello) retaliating for an earlier hit batter.
And what do you mean about Youkillis’ relationship with Joba? They don’t HAVE a relationship, unless you count wanting to kick his ass the basis for a relationship. Joba better not forget the guys he hits, because his day is coming, although probably not till next year. If he had to bat, he would’nt be such a “tough guy”, he has some coming, and there are a lot of guys who can’t wait to give it to him.

I thought the commentary on Sportscenter (not sure if it was Baseball Tonight) was interesting. They talked about the “code” of charging the mound and the “code” of throwing a punch…is it really something we want to be teaching kids?

  3. I still don’t understand why Porcello gets the same suspension as Youkilis. I understand pitchers only play every five days, but then why doesn’t Youkilis get seven days? And yes, this was the best brawl of the year so far. However, it won’t change things for Sox in so far as catching the Yankees. That won’t happen

Vincent - I agree. A position player who misses (5) games vs a pitcher who may not even miss a start? Give the pitcher a suspension of (5) starts and see what happens.
Oh, and by the way, no team with Alex Rodriguez on it will EVER win a World Series, the Yankees will choke on his contract, just like he chokes in the postseason.
