Vick Is Signed! - Update

Michael Vick has signed with the Eagles.  The two year contract was researched tremendously by Eagles head coach, Andy Reid.  Vick wont be the starting quarterback as McNabb and Kolb still have the one - two slot.  However, Vick will certainly stir things up for their Wildcat formation - I’d even go as far as saying that the Eagles wildcat might be more effective than that of the Dolphins.

When McNabb was questioned about a possible threat of losing his position he stated, “I pretty much lobbied to get him here, I believe in second chances and what better place to get a second chance than here with this group of guys.  He’s no threat to me, not for Kolb. We had the opportunity to add another weapon to our offense.” (BallHype).  Vick, the three-time Pro Bowler will have his work cut out for him as you never know how durable McNabb will be this season with his injury history.  We might very well be seeing Vick starting later in the season if Donovan goes down and Kolb can’t hold his own.

Bottom line, I think that the Eagles will be a team to watch this year because of the versatility and weapons that they have acquired.  Lets see how Michael does in these first few weeks in camp and possibly see him play during they’re next pre-season game against the Colts.

I’m fairly confident in saying this will have no impact in how the Eagles fair this season. It’s a huge ESPN story, but I don’t see how he fits in at all to the Eagles. I think a real crappy team should have taken a chance on him with the potential that he could fill in as a starter, but he won’t take a snap this season.
