Mixed Martial Arts has exploded with popularity over the past five years and one of the more popular names in the UFC today is Brock Lesnar. The WWE superstar turned MMA fighter is at the top of the totem pole as he holds the heavyweight belt. Dana White recently announced Lesnar’s next challenge which features heavyweight Shane Carwin. The two beasts will collide at UFC 106 which is set to debut in November.
While on the topic of MMA - a record has been set for the quickest knock-out. With one punch, in two seconds, Ryohei Masuda was able to knock out Takahiro Kuroishi at Rings: The Outsider 2. This was one of the more surprising quick knock outs that I have seen - as soon as the bell rang, Kuroishi sprinted towards Masuda as Masuda simply threw a right hook to the jaw. The fight spawned a huge brawl between the two fighters supporters and the video is really something to see.
On another note. There has been some very intriguing news in both the NFL and Boxing world recently as Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chad Johnson has challenged WBC Champion Andre Berto to a boxing match after this NFL season. Berto has responded to the call out by promising a beating and a few words, “I’m here to say that when his season is over, which should be before the playoffs start, I’ll give him the beating of his life and show him the difference between kicking footballs and getting your ass kicked. By the time I’m done with him, he’ll want to change his last name to No Mas!” (DeadSpin). I would love nothing more than to see this fight happen despite the weight disadvantage and strongly believe that Berto would simply knock the shit out of Chad Johnson.
